10 Days | Uganda
Upon landing at Entebbe International Airport, a representative from Worthwhile Africa greets you. A short transfer brings you to your hotel, where you settle in for the night. Breakfast is included the following morning, setting you up for the journey ahead.
After breakfast, your driver-guide collects you for the scenic drive to Murchison Falls National Park. The journey takes six to seven hours through the Luwero Triangle. En route, you stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a walking safari to track rhinos up close. Lunch is taken along the way before you continue to the park.
An early breakfast precedes a two to three-hour morning game drive through the park. Watch for elephants, giraffes, lions, and leopards. In the afternoon, a two-hour boat safari on the Nile offers a different view. Hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds are easily seen along the riverbanks. Return for dinner and the night at your lodge.
Today you drive towards Kibale Forest, passing through tea plantations. Upon arrival, you take a guided walk through Bigodi Swamp, where local guides explain the wetland’s plants and animals. The walk offers good birdwatching and primate sightings. You check in for the night, ready for tomorrow’s chimpanzee activities.
The day is spent on a chimpanzee habituation experience in Kibale Forest. You observe the chimps as they go about their daily routines, feeding, grooming, and interacting. The full day allows deeper insight into their behaviour than a standard tracking visit. Return to your accommodation to relax and reflect on the experience.
You travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park, with the landscape changing along the route. Upon arrival, you take an afternoon game drive for wildlife sightings. The park is known for its diverse habitats and animal populations. As evening falls, you arrive at your accommodation for dinner and the night.
A morning game drive offers further opportunities to spot wildlife across the park’s plains. Later, a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel provides a close view of hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds. The channel is a gathering point for many species, making it a rewarding experience. Return to your accommodation for the night.
After a final morning game drive, you continue south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive takes you through the Kigezi Highlands, known for their steep terraced hills. You arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon, with the forest surrounding you. The evening is spent preparing for the next day’s gorilla trek.
The highlight of the tour: gorilla tracking in Bwindi’s dense forest. You trek through steep terrain with guides and trackers, following signs of the gorillas’ movements. When you locate the family, you spend one hour observing them. The experience is often described as profound and unforgettable. Return to your lodge after the trek.
Your adventure ends with a city tour of Kigali. You visit the craft market for souvenirs and the Gisozi Genocide Memorial for historical insight. After the tour, you are transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, carrying lasting memories of your Ugandan and Rwandan journey.
